The National April 19th Cemetery at the foot of Samgaksan (Bukhansan) holds 224 people who died in the April 19, 1960 revolution against the March 15 rigged election, with a memorial tower. The 135,901 m² grounds include pines and other trees, a 1,652.9 m² memorial hall, and a portrait shrine in a Korean-style wooden building of 330.58 m². Sculptures such as the Symbolic Gate, Roots of Democracy, and Flame of Justice, a pond, paved paths, and outdoor seats are on the site. In May, cherry blossoms and sunset views of Samgaksan are noted.
