Visit details

Godeok Lifelong Learning Center opened in 1984 as Godeok Library and has contributed to residents’ quality of life by encouraging everyday reading and offering a range of lifelong-education services as a community hub; it was renamed Godeok Lifelong Learning Center in 1999. Lifelong-learning classroom courses are offered for adults and children in the area. They include foreign-language courses (English, Japanese, Chinese, and others); culture and arts courses (art, ceramics, musical instruments, and others); humanities courses (real-estate auction, Chinese characters, creative writing, and others); and courses that strengthen IT skills, such as smartphone use, video editing, and digital drawing. Other cultural events include a lifelong-learning festival each autumn and ongoing exhibitions. Facilities include a general information room, children’s room, digital materials room, lecture rooms, a self-study room, a learning-device room, and a smart library; a distinctive space, Pilsa Gonggam, is set aside for handwriting (transcription) experiences. The center holds some 180,000 volumes; the general information room has general books and magazines on all subjects, and the children’s room has books and magazines for infants and children. The digital materials room operated within the general information room has nonbook materials such as DVDs and audiobooks, plus 21 computers and 12 laptops available at all times in the room. Reading services include vacation reading classes, reading clubs by audience, and interlibrary loan.
