Founded with heritage and funds given by Horim Yun Jang-seop (1922–2016). He set up the Sungbo Cultural Foundation in July 1981 and opened Horim Museum in Daechi-dong in October 1982, then rebuilt in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, reopening in May 1999. A Sinsa branch opened in June 2009 in Horim Art Center. Holdings: about 20,000 objects (ceramics, metal, wood, painting, books); 62 are national treasures (8) or treasures (54); 11 are Seoul tangible heritage. It runs thematic shows from the collection.
