Where to stay in Seoul by wheelchair
Why our published hotel pages all sit in the City Hall–Gwanghwamun–Myeongdong cluster, what that geography buys you, and why Gangnam, Hongdae, and Jamsil stay Unknown as lodging until we have room-level records.

What we can actually show
Korea Access Check currently publishes four Seoul hotels: Lotte Hotel Seoul (Sogong-ro / Euljiro), The Plaza Seoul Autograph Collection (facing City Hall), Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, and Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun. All four sit in Jung-gu and Jongno-gu — the City Hall, Gwanghwamun, and Myeongdong cluster. That is a data fact, not a ranking of every accessible room in the city.
We do not have published hotel evidence cards for Gangnam, Hongdae, Itaewon, or Jamsil. Neighborhood comments below are about terrain and transit, not bathrooms. For roll-in showers see /guides/accessible-hotels-seoul-what-accessible-room-means.

Why first-time visitors often start here
AREX ends at Seoul Station. Line 1 and Line 2 both serve City Hall. Gyeongbokgung and the National Museum are then one demanding outdoor morning plus one indoor afternoon, not a cross-city commute. Visit Seoul’s accessibility pages treat the subway as the default long-distance mode and taxis as the short-hop backup — a compact base makes that mix realistic.
Myeongdong itself is a shopping street, not a step-free mall. Shop thresholds vary. Stay near City Hall or Gwanghwamun if you want the cluster without assuming every side street is ramped.
Danurim’s walk-in center is also in Jongno-gu (Changgyeonggung-ro). That does not mean a van will idle at your hotel; it means questions and equipment delivery are geographically close. See /guides/danurim-accessible-taxis-seoul.
- Book a cancellable rate in Jung-gu or Jongno-gu for night one
- Email the exact room type before you pay in full
- Write the hotel name in Korean for taxis and Danurim
- Do not add Gangnam or Hongdae as a “must stay” without a room photo
Gangnam, Hongdae, Jamsil — geography only
Gangnam (including COEX / Samseong) is wide, modern, and full of indoor malls. Blocks are large and some approaches sit on a gentle hill. We have no hotel page there, so accessible-room status is Unknown. If you already hold a reservation, send the bathroom list anyway.
Hongdae (Mapo) is nightlife and slopes. A culture venue can be elevator-equipped while the walk from the subway elevator is not. We do not score that last stretch.
Jamsil / Songpa is the argument for Lotte World Tower: Visit Seoul lists Seoul Sky at Lotte World Tower with subway Lines 2 and 8 at Jamsil Station, and indoor mall connections. That is a reason to visit east Seoul for a day. It is not a reason to assume a Jamsil hotel room is a roll-in shower. See /guides/seoul-observation-decks-wheelchair.

Still ask the bathroom
A City Hall address does not fix a bathtub with a hinged door. Use the evidence cards on each hotel page, then email. If Danurim or a yellow taxi is your airport plan, put the hotel as the drop-off when you book — standard sedans will not replace a lift.
