Visit details

The Diplomatic Archives is a special archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that sets policy for managing diplomatic records and preserves and manages records in the diplomatic field. To provide access to declassified diplomatic records and to share the country’s diplomatic activity with the public, it operates a diplomatic records reading room, a diplomatic history exhibition room, a diplomatic experience room, and a special exhibition room. The diplomatic history exhibition room displays major treaties, documents, photographs, and commemorative items related to diplomacy from the opening of the ports in 1876 to the present, arranged by period. The diplomatic experience room offers hands-on corners—including a model international-conference speaking hall, a diplomacy quiz, and a photo spot as foreign minister—so that children and teenagers can approach diplomatic work more easily. The special exhibition room holds regular exhibitions on diplomatic themes. On weekdays, a tour program for nonprofit school groups runs twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon, and on Saturdays a Diplomat School for children and teenagers is also offered.
