About 17,000 pyeong of alder forest below Heoninreung on the lower south slope of Daemosan. High groundwater and deep lowland soil support a large alder stand unusual in Seoul, with pools, small channels, wetland herbs, and Seoul-protected birds such as white-backed woodpecker, swallow, oriole, and great tit. Plants named include alder, yellow jewelweed, Solomon’s seal, and iris. A wooden deck makes walking and viewing easier. In an ecological landscape conservation area, capturing wildlife or taking soil and stone is banned.
