Visit details

The Kim Dae-jung Library opened in November 2003 as Asia’s first presidential library. It was founded on the founding spirit of Yonsei University and on the gift of former President Kim Dae-jung—the 15th president of the Republic of Korea and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate—who donated the library building, some 16,000 documents, more than 10,000 volumes, and his Nobel Peace Prize award money to the university. The library seeks to honor Kim Dae-jung’s dedication to democracy, human rights, peace, and the eradication of poverty, and to become a world-class institution for education, research, and historical archives.
