Seoul Iris Garden is an ecological park themed on irises, one of the world’s four great flowers. It was laid out in 12 themes, including an iris garden, wetland garden, flower garden, and medicinal-plant garden. The iris garden has 300,000 plants of 130 iris species—including yellow flag, Japanese iris, Siberian iris, and blackberry lily—on about 15,000㎡, so visitors can enjoy many kinds of iris. Irises bloom each year in May–June; when they are not in flower, the leaf shape is like an orchid and is good for viewing. In the wetland garden, an observation deck lets visitors watch aquatic plants and wetland wildlife. In the flower garden, lilies, tulips, and other colorful flowers bloom by season. The medicinal-plant garden has 130,000 plants of 70 species so visitors can observe medicinal plants grown in Korea. There is also a succession-observation garden where changes in community vegetation can be watched, plus forest rest spots, offering residents ecological education and leisure. It is 125 m from Exit 2 of Dobongsan Station on metropolitan subway Lines 1 and 7, between Dobongsan and Suraksan. Visitors can walk the Dobongsan Dulle-gil while enjoying nature and collect stamps.
