Visit details

Dilkusha, Persian for “happy heart,” was the home of Albert W. Taylor and Mary L. Taylor. Built 1923–24, it burned in 1926 and was rebuilt in 1930. After Japan expelled the Taylors in 1942, William W. Taylor briefly managed it; Assemblyman Cho Gyeong-gyu bought it in 1959, and it passed to the state in 1963. Kim Ik-sang of Seoil University located it in 2005 for Bruce T. Taylor, who visited in 2006 after 66 years. It was registered as the Seoul Albert Taylor House in August 2017. Restoration finished in December 2020; the living room was recreated as in the Taylors’ time, other rooms show their life in Korea and Albert Taylor’s journalism, and it opened on 1 March 2021.
