MMCA Seoul (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul) focuses on contemporary art of our time. Following the Gwacheon campus, which opened in 1986, and the Deoksugung campus, which opened in 1998, the Seoul campus opened in 2013 on the former site of Sogyeokseo, Jongchinbu, Gyujanggak, and Saganwon from the Joseon period.

Designed around the concept of the madang (courtyard), MMCA Seoul is arranged as a place anyone can enjoy and rest. The interior and exterior of the building are organically connected, and the design is meant to harmonize with nearby landmarks. As a multidisciplinary arts and culture center with galleries as well as a digital information room, multimedia hall, and cinema, MMCA Seoul presents exhibitions of Korean contemporary art and new-media, cross-disciplinary shows.
