Visit details

This central library was built for Boseong College’s 30th anniversary, also designed by Park Dong-jin (1899–1982), referring to Duke University’s library, alma mater of professor Oh Cheon-seok. Work started in June 1935 and finished in September 1937 as a five-story Gothic granite building on the hill left of the main hall, costing 220,000 won then. The plan is L-shaped around a corner tower: one wing faces south, the other east. Floor 1 had 32 faculty rooms; floor 2 a 250-seat reading room with lamps and leather chairs; floor 3 held 200,000 volumes, with folk and art displays above. It is 300 m from Exit 1 of Korea University Station on Line 6.
