Visit details

Korea University Museum is among Korea’s earliest university museums. It opened in 1934 when folk objects collected by Namchang Son Jin-tae were shown in part of the library. A dedicated building of about 2,813 m² opened in 1962. A modern art room was added in 1973 and a modern ceramics room in 1985. In May 2005 it moved into the Centennial Memorial Hall. About 600 works are on view, including national treasures such as the Honcheon clock and Donggwoldo, paintings by Jeong Seon and Kim Hong-do, and modern works by Lee Jung-seob, Park Soo-keun, and Kwon Jin-kyu. Holdings include three national treasures and five treasures. A university archives unit begun in 2004 now manages administrative records as well.
